DISTRICT 1 VACANCY

Lancaster County has a vacancy on the Planning Commission for the District 1 seat. This position is appointed by County Council. The current term for this seat runs through June 30, 2029.

What is the Planning Commission?

The Planning Commission helps guide the physical, social, and economic growth of Lancaster County. In simple terms, it is a public board that reviews land use matters and helps shape how the county grows over time.

The commission reviews and revises land use ordinances and considers items such as rezonings, conditional use requests, and major subdivision applications.

What does serving involve?

Serving on the Planning Commission means reading meeting materials ahead of time, attending meetings, listening to staff presentations and public input, asking questions, and making decisions on development-related items that can affect the community for years to come.

Members are expected to use good judgment, be prepared, and approach each case fairly and thoughtfully. This is an important public service role that directly impacts growth, land use, and quality of life in Lancaster County.

Meeting Schedule

The Planning Commission generally meets two times each month:
Workshop meeting: First Thursday of the month at 5:00 p.m.
Public meeting: Third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.

Who can serve?

You must live in District 1 to serve in this seat.
